Via Medical’s in-line monitoring systems are the first viable and cost-effective members of a new generation of point of-care, in-line testing products. They uniquely solve the inherent problems of current approaches and deliver on the promise of point-of-care blood testing to provide accurate and fast results that permit more timely therapeutic intervention. With Via Medical’s monitors, clinicians have real-time access at the patient’s bedside to blood-chemistry data, including blood gases (pH, pO2, and pCO2), electrolytes (Na+ and K+), hematocrit and glucose. Since its founding in 1988, Via Medical has developed three products:

To initiate a measurement, the monitor’s pump reverses its action and gently withdraws a small amount of blood from the patient’s in-line arterial or venous catheter to cover the sensors. The analysis is performed and the monitor then reinfuses the blood to the patient. Results are displayed and printed approximately one minute after the measurement cycle is initiated. The sensors are automatically cleansed and recalibrated after every measurement.

Via Medical monitoring systems provide clinicians and medical practitioners with critical information immediately, allowing them to make treatment decisions to optimize intervention management and validate those interventions in real-time.

VIA System

The VIA system automatically monitors ten of the most commonly requested parameters: pH, pO2 (oxygen), pCO2 (carbon dioxide), Na+ (sodium), K+ (potassium), Hct (hematocrit), HCO3- (bicarbonate), BE (base excess), TCO2 (total carbon dioxide) and Hgb (hemoglobin).
